We rewind for a look at the eight games Crows midfielder Patrick Dangerfield polled Brownlow Medal votes on the way to finishing equal fourth in the 2014 count.

Round One, two votes v Geelong

It was a tough opener for the Crows and Dangerfield. Cats tagger Cam Guthrie made Dangerfield earn every touch and the home side kicked the last six goals of the game after Adelaide had taken the lead early in the last term. Dangerfield won 17 contested possessions among his 21 touches, had four clearances and kicked two goals including one of the best of the year from deep in the forward pocket. Geelong players dominated the coaches’ votes but Dangerfield picked up two points in Club Champion voting.

Round Five, three votes v GWS

No surprises here. Dangerfield polled the maximum ten coaches votes after kicking five goals from 33 possessions (nine clearances) in the 65-point win over the Giants at Adelaide Oval. It was the only time all season that a Crows player received the maximum eight in Club Champion voting.

Round Six, three votes v Western Bulldogs

Dangerfield collected nine coaches votes for his 28-possession game (seven clearances) in Adelaide’s nine-point win at Etihad Stadium. The Crows match committee gave him equal top votes with Josh Jenkins and Tom Lynch.

Round Seven, three votes v Melbourne

Adelaide lost this game by three points but Dangerfield was prominent in the Crows’ revival, collecting 25 possessions, six clearances and kicking 2.2. He polled four votes in the coaches’ award and shared top billing in the Club Champion votes.

Round Nine, three votes v Collingwood

No need to argue this one. Dangerfield was outstanding in this Thursday night clash at Adelaide Oval, finishing with 32 disposals, a career-high 12 clearances and eight tackles. He received the most votes (nine) in the AFL coaches award and was given seven out of eight by the Club.

Round 15, one vote v Port Adelaide

Sam Jacobs was the star of this Showdown win but Dangerfield was one of his challengers with 32 possessions, seven clearances and 1.2. He was second in the AFL coaches voting and earned five points in the Club Champion.

Round 17, three votes v Hawthorn

Dangerfield had a career-high 41 possessions (nine clearances) in the two-goal loss to the Hawks. Picked up six votes from the AFL coaches and was rated behind Rory Sloane but shared the lead in Club Champion votes.

Round 18, three votes v Collingwood

Brodie Smith received nine votes from the coaches compared to Dangerfield’s two but he was the leading possession-winner (26) in the 16-point win at the MCG. Dangerfield was also second to Smith in Club Champion voting.
