Adelaide’s rollercoaster season continued on Saturday night as the Crows fell to Essendon by nine points at Etihad Stadium. But the Club fared well on the AFL Fantasy stage, with a trio of Crows surpassing the 100-point barrier.

For the second consecutive week, Scott Thompson ($507,788) led the way for Adelaide with a phenomenal 149 points from a match-high 41 possessions, six marks and seven tackles. Thompson’s total was the third biggest of his career and the fifth highest for the round in a huge Fantasy weekend across the AFL. It was the veteran midfielder’s best haul since Round Three, 2011 when he chalked up 154 points against the Dockers.  Thompson has added over $20k in the past fortnight and is set to soar in value again this week with a generous break even of just 63 points. Amazingly, the reliable midfielder is owned by less than two per cent of the competition as he continues to fly under the Fantasy radar.

Dual-position Crow Matthew Wright ($378,133) enjoyed his best Fantasy performance since Round One with 103 points from 26 disposals. The former rookie-listed Crow worked tirelessly in the midfield for Adelaide, picking up a team-high 10 marks in one of his most impressive games of the year. Wright has the potential to be a valuable commodity in AFL Fantasy due to his dual-position status and started the year brightly with five scores above 90 points in the opening six rounds. The 24-year-old has struggled for consistency since, but could be worth consideration after an improved output against the Roos and Bombers over the past fortnight. With a tempting break even of just 56 points, it could be the ‘Wright’ time to take a gamble.

Taylor Walker ($350,329) continues his rapid rise since returning for Adelaide in Round Nine. The burly forward notched 89 points from 17 touches and two goals against the Bombers to add another $12k to his AFL Fantasy value. Tex looks to have regained confidence in his match conditioning, as the 24-year-old worked up and down the ground to collect nine marks in a gallant effort for the Crows. Walker is Adelaide’s spiritual leader and will be priming himself for a huge finish to the season. The two-time Crows leading goalkicker is still significantly underpriced and remains a viable option for Fantasy coaches looking for increased firepower up forward.

Another week, and another fantastic score from Sam Jacobs ($458,122) after ‘Sauce’ posted 112 points for the Crows on Saturday night. Jacobs shouldered the bulk of the ruck duties against Patrick Ryder and Tom Bellchambers to finish with 35 hit-outs (two more than Essendon’s team total of 33), 20 possessions and nine marks. The 202 cm giant has surpassed 100 Fantasy points in nine of his 13 games this season and established himself as the most valuable ruckman in AFL Fantasy. Staggeringly, only 16 per cent of Fantasy coaches own the star Crow despite his stellar season so far. This makes Jacobs a great option for players looking to gain an advantage in head-to-head matches as Fantasy finals approach.
