Free train, tram and bus transport will be included in Adelaide Oval Footy Express services running for all AFL games this season.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) Chief Executive Rod Hook said that the new Adelaide Oval Footy Express train, tram and bus services will operate to a high frequency timetable and will set-down within a short walk of the redeveloped Adelaide Oval.

“By simply showing your Adelaide Oval footy ticket when boarding an Adelaide Metro Adelaide Oval Footy Express or general train, tram or bus service you are eligible for free travel to and from the game,” he said.

Crows CEO Steven Trigg said the announcement was great news for Crows members and fans.

“This gives our fans and anyone else heading to our games at Adelaide Oval some great options,” he said. “The Club and our members have had some concerns about transport but this news will allow people to find the easiest and best option in their circumstances.

An Adelaide Oval Footy Express bus interchange will be established on King William Road between North Terrace and Victoria Drive. Footy Express buses will provide frequent limited stop bus routes at a 5-20 minutes frequency 1-2 hours prior to the game, and the buses will depart 30 minutes after the final siren.

Adelaide Oval Footy Express tram services will operate at a 5-10 minute frequency at all stops and train services at a 15-30 minute frequency at limited stops 2-2.5 hours prior to the game and 1-1.5 hours after the game.

With the new Riverbank Bridge – and its connections to the Adelaide Railway Station, the tramline and a range of bus routes – catching public transport to the Adelaide Oval will be easy.
