Tree retention has been a much talked about topic throughout the Masterplan Advisory Group and public consultation processes.

The Club has listened to feedback, and the size of the secondary training oval has been reduced, and its location repositioned, to limit any impact on the tree canopy. An important principle of the master plan was no net loss of trees as part of the development.

While the establishment of an oval on Kings Reserve required the removal of some trees, any trees removed will be offset with the planting of additional trees in appropriate locations.

Thebarton Oval is a traditional footy heartland, and the Crows will make sure the history, as well as the key figures and events of the Club’s journey, are reflected in the new facility.

The Club wants people to see this as a place where they can watch their teams train, meet friends for a light meal and drink, or use the open space areas to exercise.

Following completion of the Torrens to Darlington tunnel works (T2D), there will be direct entry and exit access to the precinct from South Road to minimise traffic congestion and an increase in publicly accessible parking within the precinct itself. In the interim, access to the precinct will be from Ashley Street.

Additionally, for AFLW match days and event days, 500 carparks will be available within Kings Reserve.

Adelaide’s women’s team will play its home AFLW matches there, which would currently be six games per season, plus any home finals.

The men’s AFL team will continue to play at Adelaide Oval.

Kings Reserve will provide space for 500 vehicles on AFLW game days.

The venue is licenced for 9000, however based on current AFLW competition crowds, the average crowd is expected to be less than 5000.
