Defender Luke Brown and forward Josh Rachele have been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injury.

Brown has been unable to recover from a lingering knee injury while Rachele reaggravated a hip complaint in the SANFL on the weekend.

The pair will focus on their recovery and completing a full pre-season in preparation for 2023.

“Unfortunately Josh reaggravated his hip in the second quarter of the SANFL on the weekend,” High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

“He had a scan yesterday and he’s done a little bit of damage to that tendon there. He’ll be out the rest of the season and we’ll start his pre-season a couple of weeks early.

“Browny tried to train last week and got through most of training but unfortunately the knee didn’t respond well the next day.

“It’s unlikely that he’ll play again this season given he’s not qualified for SANFL finals and there’s only two more AFL games.

“We expect his rehab to be pretty smooth, a couple of weeks off running and then get back into some movement and rehab after that.”

Fellow defender Will Hamill has entered the AFL’s concussion protocols and will miss this weekend’s clash with North Melbourne.

“Unfortunately Will sustained a concussion during the West Coast game,” Burgess said.

“He feels really good, he’ll just go straight into the AFL’s concussion protocols and we’ll assess him ongoing.

“It’s not ideal for him but he’s in a great space, he’s really positive about it and we expect him to make a full recovery.”

Adelaide's injury list, as of Tuesday, August 9:

Will Hamill (concussion protocols)
Luke Brown (knee) season
Josh Rachele (hip) season
Andrew McPherson (knee) season
Rory Sloane (knee) season
Paul Seedsman (concussion) season
