Adelaide has signed South Australian midfielder Taylah Levy as a rookie ahead of AFLW Season Eight.

Originally from Victor Harbor, Levy recently returned to Adelaide after spending three years playing basketball at Cleveland State University in the United States.

Growing up, the 21-year-old played netball, basketball and football before being offered a scholarship to play basketball for the CSU Vikings in 2019.

The 165cm onballer played football until the age of 16 and has already played alongside some of her new Crows teammates Montana McKinnon, Teah Charlton and Hannah Munyard at SANFLW club South Adelaide.

Levy was also a member of the 2016 under-16 girls premiership side with South Adelaide.

Crows Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said Taylah had been on the Club’s radar for a few years.

“Our Club has an excellent record of recruiting players who have played football at a junior level but then pursued other sports,” Harper said.

“Taylah had a great opportunity to play college basketball but we were always hopeful she would come back to footy one day and are rapt she’s signed as a rookie for Season Eight.

“It’s been five years since she last played football competitively, so we will give her time to develop but we are confident she has the talent and competitiveness to become a quality AFLW player and help make us better as a team.”

Levy will play in the SANFLW competition for South Adelaide before starting her first AFLW pre-season later this year.

The AFLW Sign and Trade Period will end on Monday, March 20.
