Adelaide key defender Jordon Butts has recommitted to the Crows by signing a three-year contract extension to the end of 2026.

Butts made his AFL debut in 2020 and has since become a mainstay in defence as he approaches his 50th game next month.

The 23-year-old, who stands 198cm and 96kg, regularly plays on the competition’s premier key forwards and has become a consistent and reliable performer.

Adelaide General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said Butts was an important part of the team’s future.

“Jordon’s development from being selected in the 2018 rookie draft to now holding down a key defensive position in our team has been very pleasing,” Reid said.

“He’s become a very reliable, no-fuss defender who we know will get the job done each week and we are thrilled that he’s recommitted to the Club for at least the next three seasons.”

Butts said he had formed some strong friendships at the Club and he was excited to be part of Adelaide’s climb back up the AFL ladder.

“The Club gave me an opportunity in the draft and hopefully I’m able to repay that faith in me,” he said.

“I have really enjoyed my time here, a lot of my teammates are also my close friends and each year it feels like we are building towards something special so it’s great to be part of that.”
