Forward Shane McAdam is entering the final phase of his recovery from a quad injury and could return to play this weekend.

McAdam has not played since suffering the injury in Round Three of the SANFL and has been building his training loads over the past month.

“Shane has completed a good four or five weeks of training, he’s got a few hurdles to get over this week but if he gets through those then he’ll be available to play on Saturday,” High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

Defenders Brodie Smith, who was a late withdrawal with a back complaint on Sunday, and Mitch Hinge, who missed the win over Brisbane with concussion, are both expected to be available for selection this week. Draftee Hugh Bond is also edging closer to returning from a knee injury which has sidelined him since April.

“Mitch has his final stage of concussion protocol tomorrow (Wednesday), we’re anticipating him getting through that and being available on Saturday,” Burgess said.

“Brodie didn’t quite make it last week, he got a bit of a whack in the back (against the Western Bulldogs) and was a little bit sore on captains run so we decided against playing him, but he should be available this weekend as well.

“And Hugh Bond has pleasingly got through all of his rehab, he has one or two more things to check off this week and if he does that then he’ll be available this weekend.”

Midfielder Zac Taylor has also returned to the gym following surgery on a Lisfranc injury earlier this month.

Injury list as of Tuesday, May 30:

Shane McAdam (quad) test
Hugh Bond (knee) test
