Key-position prospect Elliott Himmelberg has been selected with Adelaide's third pick (No.51) in the AFL National Draft.

Himmelberg, 18, joins midfielders Jordan Gallucci and Myles Poholke in becoming Crows on Friday night.

Himmelberg is the younger brother of Greater Western Sydney defender Harry, who Adelaide placed a bid on before calling Tom Doedee's name with selection No.17 in last year's national meet.

Position:
Key forward/defender
Club: Redlands
Height: 196cm
Weight: 89kg
DOB: 4/6/98

Himmelberg is an aggressive, versatile prospect who can play either end of the ground. He has good size, athleticism and endurance. He missed the second half of the season after suffering a broken leg during the national championships and didn’t test at the Draft Combine.

Averaged 16 disposals for Queensland and playing for the Allies this year. Despite being part of the Lions Academy, Himmelberg is ineligible to be selected having only moved to Queensland this year from Wagga, where also played a fair bit of cricket – as a spin bowler.

Queensland high performance coach Adrian Fletcher says:

“Elliott is a good kick for goal and has real aggression when he crunches and spoils the packs. He can play at both ends and if he keeps on growing, he might be able to pinch hit in the ruck. We have really high hopes for him and might go somewhere from the mid-20s.”
