Izak Rankine and Taylor Walker are nearing a return from injury against Sydney on Saturday night.

Rankine has been sidelined since Round 10 with a hamstring injury and Walker missed last week’s clash with Richmond with a back complaint.

Both are expected to train at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday night and be tested before selection.

“Izak has done everything that we’ve asked him to do and completed all the objective markers,” Crows High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

“His last test will be to get through training on Wednesday night and assuming he does that, then I’m pretty sure he will make himself available for selection.

“He had a big session last Friday and moved really well and backed that up again yesterday, so there’s reason at the moment why he won’t play on the weekend.”

Walker is also making progress after he was unable to get up for the game against Richmond off a five-day break.

“Tex is doing well, he was a little bit sore in his back last week but he completed a pretty solid running session on Monday and assuming he gets through training on Wednesday then he will put his hand up for selection as well,” Burgess said.

Brayden Cook was ruled out of the game against the Tigers after jarring his knee but he is expected to play this weekend.

“Cooky just jarred his knee and had a bit of swelling there,” Burgess said.

“We scanned it and was all clear but we thought we wouldn’t take the risk with him but he will be right for this week.”

Ruckman Kieran Strachan was subbed out of the loss to Richmond with a groin complaint but it is not expected to keep him out this week.

“Strachany lost a bit of power in his groin during the game and given the state of the game and needing to bring on the sub we thought it was the best decision to take him out.

“He trained fully on Monday and I’m sure he will train on Wednesday and be fine for the weekend.”
