Kuwarna will look to “get the little things right” after costly mistakes let the side down in the clash against Collingwood, according to defender Mitch Hinge.

The side had opportunities late in the game to snatch the win, but fell to the Magpies by 10 points on Saturday at the MCG.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Hinge conceded the hosts handled the game with more polish and poise.

“I think we had a few little costly mistakes like free kicks, where we just let them off the hook,” Hinge said.

“They were able to punish us from those, and we probably weren’t able to do the same on the opposite end.

“These are the little things that obviously you need to get right in the closer, tighter games. That’s where most of the disappointment comes from, to be honest.

“We definitely gave ourselves an opportunity to win the game, (but) small moments probably cost us.”

The match against the Magpies went down to the wire, as Kuwarna Captain Jordan Dawson marked and goaled with five minutes remaining to give the visitors a chance.

But Collingwood was able to hold on for the 11.12 (78) to 10.8 (68) victory.

Hinge said players would review the match and look at ways to make the small moments go in their favour.

“It’s more of a continued growth, continued improvement sort of situation rather than the one week and sitting with the disappointment.

“I look at the conditions that were obviously tough but you also play such a good side in Collingwood. We respect Collingwood and what they’ve been able to do, especially this year.

“When you play these types of games, you rely on contest, you rely on these little moments that we didn’t necessarily get right throughout the day and they did.

“I look at the week before and the Showdown where we had a similar game and it came to those little moments and I probably feel like we got them right the week before.

“These are the little things that obviously you need to get right in the closer, tighter games.”

Kuwarna will face Waalitj Marawar (West Coast) in the second week of Indigenous Round at Adelaide Oval on Sunday at 12.40pm.
