The Crows are continuing their fight against motor neurone disease (MND) by hosting an SA Freeze event for the second year running at Adelaide Oval.

Local football identities will attempt to beat the chill on the hill by being dunked with icy cold water during half-time of Adelaide’s Round 13 clash against Brisbane on Friday, June 6.

It follows the Club hosting the inaugural SA Freeze on a Friday night last season.

Crows fans are encouraged to help raise vital funds for MND research and care initiatives by purchasing a Big Freeze 11 Beanie.

They can be purchased when buying a ticket to the match against the Lions and will also be available to buy from the South, East and North gates at Adelaide Oval on the night.

The SA Freeze will kick-start a big weekend for FightMND – an organisation working to raise awareness and fund research into MND – and it culminates with the 11th Big Freeze, to be hosted before the Melbourne v Collingwood clash at the MCG on the King’s Birthday Monday.

Crows CEO Tim Silvers described hosting the event as a privilege and the Club was committed to doing its part to try and make a difference.

“Our first-up SA Freeze event was really well received and our members and supporters embraced the cause, having seen the Big Freeze event at the MCG become a highlight of the footy fixture,” Silvers said.

“This year’s theme is ‘Live it Forward’, to emphasise taking action and continuing the fight, and it’s great that we are able to do our bit to help combat this awful disease.”

FightMND Director of Campaigns, Bec Daniher, said the return of the SA Freeze was a powerful reminder of the community’s commitment to support those affected.

“We're excited to be back at Adelaide Oval this year for the SA Freeze,” Daniher said.

“We are so pleased to have the support of the Adelaide Crows, and to the South Australian community, we say thank you for your strength, your generosity and your unwavering support in the fight against MND.

“Motor neurone disease knows no boundaries, and neither do we. In the fight against the beast, it is the collective action of the Australian community that is going to help us win.

“The challenge is great, but so is our resolve. Together we live it forward for those who can't and strive towards a future without MND. Can’t wait to see you at the game.”

The Crows will reveal the names of the SA identities who will beat the chill on the hill next week.

Adelaide faces Brisbane at Adelaide Oval on Friday, June 6, at 7.10pm.
