A trio of Crows icons will take the icy plunge as part of the SA Freeze at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.
The Club can reveal its ‘dunkees’ will be Coleman Medallist Tony Modra, AFL Premiership player and Brownlow Medallist Mark Ricciuto, as well as three-time AFLW flag winner and reigning League Best and Fairest Ebony Marinoff.
Modra, Marinoff and Ricciuto will be dunked before the Crows’ Round 13 clash against Brisbane to help raise funds and awareness for motor neurone disease (MND).
Marinoff said she was keen to help support those fighting the disease and encouraged fans to get behind the cause.
“I am so excited, I’ve watched the Big Freeze for as many years as I can remember, and it’s a huge event over in Melbourne, so it’s great to be involved in one here,” Marinoff said.
“Neale Daniher has been such a pivotal part of our game and he’s such an inspiration to us all, which is why we are so happy to get behind this cause.
“MND is such a horrible disease and we’d love it to be curable one day, and I think the AFL as a wider community does a great job in supporting it.
“I will be dressing up, I’ve been speaking with Doc (Matt Clarke) and Chels Randall as they always have weird and wacky ideas, so I’m going to try and come up with something good.”
The unveiling of the dunkees comes after the Club announced it would be continuing the fight against MND by hosting an SA Freeze event for the second year running.
Crows fans are encouraged to help raise vital funds for MND research and care initiatives by purchasing a Big Freeze 11 beanie.
They can be purchased when buying a ticket to the match against the Lions and will also be available to buy from the South, East and North gates at Adelaide Oval on the night.
The SA Freeze will kick-start a big weekend for FightMND – an organisation working to raise awareness and fund research into MND – and it culminates with the 11th Big Freeze, to be hosted before the Melbourne v Collingwood clash at the MCG on the King’s Birthday Monday.
Adelaide faces Brisbane at Adelaide Oval on Friday, June 6, at 7.10pm.
