Almost four months have passed since construction on Adelaide’s new training, administration and community headquarters at Thebarton Oval officially began and “significant progress” has been made, according to Project Manager Scott Bell.

In February, 150 people gathered at the oval, which is now a construction site, to mark the soil being turned on the $100 million project.

Bell gave an update on how construction was tracking on last week’s episode of The Crows Show, with work ahead of schedule, thanks to a bout of warmer autumn weather.

“It’s going really well at the moment,” Bell said.

“Since we started, we’ve made some significant progress, they’ve taken advantage of the weather and in some respects we’ve had a pretty good run so far.

“There’s probably close to 10,000 cubic metres of dirt that has been moved around the site in preparation for the new build.

“The focus is to really close out all the ground floor concrete pours, the 25m pools, a hot pool and a cold pool, they’re all being finished and tested, with the roof hopefully being completed sometime in August, is the target at the moment.”

Once complete, Crows players, coaches, staff, members and supporters will have access to a 150m long, two-storey building that wraps around Thebarton Oval and it will be the best of its kind in the country.

The new sports precinct will provide a permanent match day home for Adelaide’s successful AFLW team, as well as a café and members lounge for all-day casual dining with indoor and outdoor seating to watch the Crows’ men’s and women’s players train.

There will also be a dedicated function centre and interactive museum allowing fans to immerse themselves in the Club’s history.

“We are probably five or six weeks ahead of the program at the moment, which is great news,” Bell said.

“There’s over 100 people on site everyday, there will probably be 200 over the course of the next six to 12 months.

“It’s great to see these things get to site. There’s a lot of work that goes into the planning and consultation, so to actually see the work happen on site is great.

“I think the fans and the Members, as well as the players and staff are going to be pretty excited to see this come out of the ground. We’ve already seen that through some of the engagement they’ve had on site and building the excitement for when completion occurs.”
