As the crowd number flashed across the big screens at Adelaide Oval on Friday night, Crows wingman Isaac Cumming was in awe.

It was a cold, wet and wintry night but Crows fans turned up in droves for the blockbuster clash against Brisbane - 42,921 to be exact.

And, according to Cumming, who was traded to Adelaide from GWS at the end of last year, the roar of the home crowd helped the Crows to a five-point win against the Lions.

“Friday night was definitely one of the highlights of the year so far,” Cumming said.

“A win like that, in the conditions as well, is pretty special and to see the 42,000 fans rock up in the wind and rain in something that we as a Club are really grateful for.

“For me, personally I loved it and I reckon they were massive for us in the last quarter.

“The passion across both clubs (GWS and Adelaide) is massive, obviously the volume of it here is bigger naturally, being in Adelaide.

“When I saw that (crowd) number come up in the last quarter, I was seriously impressed and very thankful.”

The Crows found themselves 17 points behind at the final change, before a huge mark and goal in the fourth term to Skipper Jordan Dawson sparked the comeback.

Cumming said Dawson’s form had proved why he was selected to be Captain and players walked taller with him around.

“We’ve had a couple of close losses this year - Gold Coast by a point, Collingwood was extremely close - so to get a win in a really close, tough game across the whole team you could see how happy everyone was,” Cumming said.

“He’s (Dawson) in some serious form, it’s crazy. That last quarter, you look at what a Captain does for a football team, and on the field, I think that’s about as good as a Captain can play.

“He just puts us on his shoulders, along with a couple of others, but he was unreal and is in some seriously good form.

“I love him as a bloke - first and foremost - you love your teammates, love your Captain - but he’s carrying us big time at the moment.”

Adelaide's focus now turns to its match against Hawthorn in Launceston on Friday night.

The Hawks will also enter the game off the back of a win and Cumming said he was looking forward to the challenge.

“It’s another massive one, it’s going to be good to play another Friday night blockbuster,” Cumming said.

“They are back to their best at the moment, so it’s going to be a good match-up and one we can’t wait for.”

Adelaide faces Hawthorn at UTAS Stadium in Launceston on Friday at 7.10pm (ACST).

The match will be broadcast live on Channel 7, Kayo and Fox Footy.
