Adelaide utility Dan Curtin has been rewarded for his strong performance in the Crows’ win against Brisbane with a Round 13 Telstra AFL Rising Star nomination.

Curtin finished the match with 14 disposals, six marks, six tackles, 19 pressure acts, four score involvements and five contested possessions.

The Rising Star nomination caps a solid season so far for Curtin, who has played every game, splitting his time between the forward line and the wing.

Adelaide Head of Football Adam Kelly said Curtin deserved recognition for not only his on-field performance but his team-first attitude.

“Dan is a player that we have great belief in, and this Rising Star nomination is great acknowledgement of the work that he has put in to develop his game from the moment he stepped through the doors at West Lakes in 2023,” Kelly said.

“He has impressed all with his appetite for improvement and his attention to detail when it comes to physically, mentally and tactically preparing himself for AFL Football.

“Dan is very much a team-first player, and in some way, this nomination is recognition for the team as well, and for the valuable contribution he is making to the way we have been performing.”

Curtin’s arrival to the Crows came when Adelaide engaged in a bold trade with GWS at the 2023 AFL National Draft.

The Giants were on the clock with Pick No.8, before agreeing to the trade, which resulted in the Crows giving up Pick No.11, 15, and a future second-rounder, in exchange for Pick No.8 and 17.

Adelaide then used Pick No.8 to select Curtin.

Curtin is Adelaide’s first Rising Star nominee for 2025 and follows in the recent footsteps of Luke Nankervis (Round 13, 2024), Luke Pedlar (Round 16, 2023) and Max Michalanney (Round Five, 2023).
