Wife of veteran Crows forward Taylor Walker, Ellie, has revealed her husband’s superstitious pre-game routine.

Part of Tex's weekly spot on Triple M Adelaide Breakfast, Ellie called into the show with sons Hugo and Louis.

When asked about Walker’s pre-game routine, Ellie spilled the beans, describing her husband as “the most superstitious person ever.”

“Taylor is the most superstitious person I’ve ever met, and I feel I’m becoming like that now,” Ellie Walker said.

“We have to eat the exact same recipe before a game, the same pasta, the same yogurt, the same strawberry, the same ham.

“The routine is the exact same, and it’s always held him in good stead.”

Walker’s routine certainly held him in good stead last Friday night, as he kicked two critical final quarter goals to lift the Crows to a come-from-behind victory against the Hawks.

The win was set-up by a clinical second term response, as the Crows erased a 26-point quarter time deficit to lead the game at half-time.

Taylor Walker explained the maturity the group showed to overcome the early adversity.

“We haven’t had any Friday night games over the past four or five years, so for our footy Club it was a great way to enjoy the moment and put some good footy on the park, which we were able to do after quarter-time,” Walker said.

“I sat there as a senior player at quarter-time, and all the boys were talking about what a great opportunity it is to be in this position and it’s going to be a great challenge for us to overcome.

“When you hear things like that, you realise the group is made of the right stuff and is maturing so well.

“We ended up chipping away at it, and ended up in front at half-time which was very pleasing.”

One young teammate that impressed Walker in the Crows’ fight back was Dan Curtin, who continued his excellent second half of the season with 20 disposals, six marks and five tackles.

“I was so impressed with what Dan (Curtin) was able to do,” Walker said.

“There was a contest on the wing where he got it to ground, followed up two or three times and got it forward for us, he’s going from strength-to-strength.

“That’s the beauty of our team at the moment, we’ve got so many guys contributing and we aren’t reliant on too few.”
