Adelaide players Luke Nankervis and Charlie Edwards are stepping up off the field, spearheading a special initiative in support of the Adelaide Crows Foundation.
To celebrate the foundation’s 20th anniversary, Nankervis and Edwards are leading the new initiative, Kick in for Kids, giving fans a chance to own a piece of Crows history and, at the same time, help its efforts to have a positive impact in the community.
As part of Kick in for Kids, 20 pairs of AFL player-worn, signed boots from the 2025 season will be auctioned off, with all funds raised going directly towards its programs that are designed to change young people’s lives.
Edwards said it was important for players to use their platforms to help youngsters who may be struggling.
“We were both lucky growing up and we’re now in a unique position where we can help to raise vital funds for the Foundation to help kids in need,” Edwards said.
“We’re hoping to put more smiles on kids’ faces, particularly any doing it tough.”
Nankervis, who visited unwell kids in hospital with Edwards last month, said he was honoured to be involved.
“The hospital visit was pretty eye opening, to see what some of those kids are going through,” Nankervis said.
“It’s nice to be able to give back and we are planning to get out to see more and as Charlie said, hopefully put smiles on their faces.”
The Adelaide Crows Foundation, which celebrates two decades this year, delivers programs focused on education, inclusion, mental health and creating opportunities for young people doing it tough.
Some highlights of the early years included installing play equipment at Ronald McDonald House, funding a year’s accommodation for Childhood Cancer Foundation families, as well as Taylor Walker shaving his mullet and raising $75,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
