Adelaide’s qualifying final against Collingwood will be an extra special occasion for the Walker family, as Taylor celebrates his 300th game of AFL football.
His immediate family will be at the game on Thursday night to share the moment with the Club’s all-time leading goal-kicker, but they won’t all be supporting the Crows when the ball is bounced.
Youngest son Louis is still staunch in his backing of Collingwood and Nick Daicos.
Speaking on his weekly Triple M Adelaide Breakfast radio spot, Walker revealed the conversations he’d had with Louis ahead of the blockbuster.
“What’s your set up like at home, have you got a spare room?” Walker said.
“I tried to explain to him that it’s going to be a special occasion and he’s gonna run out with me.
“I said he can only wear Crows gear, no Collingwood gear and it wasn’t really accepted very well.
“So we might have to have that argument next week, we’ll see where it all lands before the game.”
Walker will become just the fifth player to pull on the tri-colours on 300 occasions, joining Andrew McLeod, Mark Ricciuto, Tyson Edwards and Ben Hart in the exclusive club.
He said it was humbling to reach the milestone, and was not overly comfortable to be in the company of four of the Club’s biggest legends.
“Being a Crows supporter growing up, they’re four guys I used to move on the magnet board every Friday afternoon to see who would play,” Walker said.
“I was then lucky enough to meet and play with a couple of them as well as I started my journey at the Crows.
“So I sit here with a lot of gratitude that the footy Club went out on a limb back in 2007 to give me an opportunity, and I sit here 18 years later about to play my 300th game, it is very surreal to be honest.”
Adelaide faces Collingwood in a qualifying final at Adelaide Oval on Thursday, with the first bounce at 7.10pm.
