Adelaide’s Jordan Dawson has been appointed Captain for a fourth consecutive season, reaffirming his standing as one of the Club’s most influential modern leaders.
Dawson, 28, has become a central figure and driven standards and improved on-field performance, since returning to his home state to join the Crows ahead of the 2022 season.
Reflecting on the honour, Dawson said the significance of captaining the team he grew up supporting is something he never takes for granted.
“It’s a massive honour, I definitely need to sit back and reflect at times throughout the year to enjoy it and understand just how lucky I am,” Dawson said.
“I’ve been really keen to empower the younger guys coming through to be leaders as well.
“So I’m not forcing things for myself, rather getting others involved and trying to bring everybody along for the journey.”
Crows Senior Coach Matthew Nicks said Dawson’s reappointment reflects his on and off field impact, and the respect he commands from team mates, coaches and staff.
“Jordan leads in a way that brings people with him — he’s authentic, team-first and he cares deeply about the Club and our people,” Nicks said.
“He sets incredibly high standards for himself and he invests time and energy into developing others, and when it really matters on-field, we can count on him to stand up.”
Adelaide will announce the senior leadership group which will support Dawson in the near future.
