The Adelaide Football Club has appointed four-time premiership player Jarryd Roughead as General Manager List Management.

Roughead joins the Crows with extensive football industry experience as a player and in football operations over the past six years, having held roles at St Kilda and most recently at Hawthorn as Player Acquisition Manager, where his focus has been on talent identification and acquisition, including trade and free agency.

A highly respected figure, he played 283 AFL games for Hawthorn between 2005 and 2019, winning premierships in 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015, and captaining the Club from 2017–18.

In his new role, Roughead will be responsible for implementing the Club’s list strategy, including player acquisition and retention and for overseeing the recruiting team, while working closely with the Club’s senior management and football leadership.

Crows Executive General Manager Football Adam Kelly said Roughead brings a unique perspective shaped by a combination of premiership success, elite-level leadership, and hands-on list management experience and knowledge.

"This is a significant appointment for the Club, not only due to the importance of the role but for the calibre of candidate we have found in Jarryd,” Kelly said.

“He is widely respected across the football industry, understands the complexities of the current list management landscape and has well established relationships with key stakeholders.

“Beyond the technical capability he clearly demonstrated during the recruitment process, Jarryd showed himself to be a person of great character and integrity, who communicates honestly and authentically, and he possesses a clear vision of what it takes to win.

“We also have great belief that he will be a wonderful leader for our Melbourne-based list management and recruiting team.”

Roughead will commence in the role in the coming weeks and he will be based in the Club’s Melbourne office.
