Friday night delivered two milestone moments, a career-best performance and a packed Adelaide Oval against the Western Bulldogs. Here are the key numbers and historical notes from Round Two.

Rachele reaches the ton

Josh Rachele kicked his 100th AFL goal for Adelaide on Friday night, four years to the day since he kicked five goals in his AFL debut against Fremantle. Rachele’s second goal, from a set shot in the last quarter, brought up the milestone in his 72nd game.

Fans show up in force for Friday night footy

Friday night’s Adelaide Oval crowd of 49,185 was the biggest for a home-and-away clash between the Crows and Bulldogs in 49 games since 1991. The old record was 44,979, at Football Park in 1993. The previous best for the two teams at Adelaide Oval was 41,948, in 2017.

Walker climbs the all‑time list

Taylor Walker’s three goals lifted him into 28th spot on the all-time VFL-AFL career goals list. He now has kicked 683 goals, passing South Melbourne legend Bob Pratt (681).  Walker is 17 goals behind Fremantle star Matthew Pavlich.

Butts’ breakthrough night

It was a good night out for Crows defender Jordan Butts, who not only kicked his first AFL goal after not scoring in his first 86 games but set a series of career-high stats. He had 19 disposals (previous best 18), 12 marks (10), eight intercept marks (five) and six score involvements (five).

Other Crows who took some time to kick their first AFL goal include Jake Kelly (53 games), Max Michalanney (51), Kyle Hartigan (45) and Robert Shirley (35). Josh Worrell is the new leader of Adelaide’s “no goal” club, yet to trouble the goal umpires in 57 AFL games.

A rare result at Adelaide Oval

It was the first Western Bulldogs win against the Crows at Adelaide Oval from four clashes in 13 seasons at the redeveloped stadium. Adelaide had won the first three of these games and the previous two at AAMI Stadium since the Bulldogs last won in 2010.
