From veteran class to a bright debut, Adelaide’s one-point win against St Kilda delivered plenty of stats worth unpacking. Here are the key numbers, milestones and historical notes from Round Six.
Walker winds back clock with five-goal performance
Taylor Walker, who turns 36 next Saturday, has now kicked five goals or more in 27 AFL games for the Crows. It was his first bag of five since the last round of the 2023 season and lifts his career tally to 690 from 306 games.
Laird climbs Club games list
Rory Laird is one game away from earning bragging rights with close mate Brodie Smith. He played his 273rd AFL game for Adelaide on Saturday night to move past two-time Crows premiership captain Mark Bickley (272) and join Smith, who retired at the end of last season, in equal eighth for most games played. Laird is now two games behind Simon Goodwin (275) and then needs another three games to match Nigel Smart (278).
Edwards settles quickly in AFL debut
The number 273 is linked forever to Charlie Edwards, who made his AFL debut against St Kilda. He was the fifth player to debut for the Crows this season, following Finnbar Maley (player number 272), Toby Murray (271), Lachlan McAndrew (270) and Callum Ah Chee (269). Edwards was presented with his No.11 guernsey before the game by Paul Seedsman, the last player to wear the number, in 83 games from 2016-21. Edwards settled into the game to finish with 18 disposals, five clearances and 474 metres gained.
Worrell shines as Rachele impacts midfield
Crows defender Josh Worrell took an equal career-high 11 marks on Saturday night. He also collected 28 disposals to maintain his season average of 25.7. Josh Rachele attended 25 centre starts – the most of any Crows midfielder – had four centre clearances and a game-high nine score involvements.
Crows maintain strong record against Saints
Adelaide hasn’t played St Kilda in Melbourne since the 2019 season. Seven of the last eight clashes have been played at Adelaide Oval and there was also a St Kilda ‘home’ clash in Cairns in 2021. St Kilda last hosted the Crows in Melbourne at Marvel Stadium in round six of 2019, when the Crows won by 29 points. Adelaide has won 15 of their 17 contests since St Kilda thrashed the Crows by 103 points in round 18 of the 2011 season.
