Veteran Adelaide forward Taylor Walker says young teammate Dan Curtin is a “massive chance” to make a return to the field this weekend.

The 21-year-old utility has spent the first six weeks of the season on the sidelines as he recovered from pre-season knee surgery.

Speaking to Roo, Ditts and Loz on Triple M Adelaide Breakfast, Walker said Curtin was in a position to put his hand up for selection at either AFL or SANFL level.

“He’ll be a massive chance to come back this week,” Walker said.

“The last box he’ll have to tick is getting through our main session on Thursday afternoon.

“I’d imagine they’d be talking about playing him at both (AFL and SANFL level), if I was a betting man I’d say they’d give him a run in the magoos and then we’ll go from there.”

Walker himself is coming off a vintage five-goal performance against last week, with his efforts vital in lifting the Crows to a one-point victory.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Club’s all-time leading goalkicker however, as he battled in the early stages of the match against a quality defender in St Kilda co-captain Callum Wilkie.

Walker gave an insight into what was said at the quarter-time, and how forwards coach Scott Burns helped kick him into gear.

“It wasn’t Nicksy (that spoke to me at quarter-time), it was Burnsy our forwards coach and I knew as I was walking in I put my hand up and said ‘I know mate, I know’,” Walker said.

“Then the forwards got together and we quickly debriefed the quarter, then Burns looked at both Zaccy Taylor and I and said ‘I need ya both, I need ya to lift.’

“So Zaccy went to Sinclair after quarter-time and managed to limit his influence which was a great effort from him.

“And I was internally proud that I was able to respond from quarter-time and have an impact on the game against a very good defender in Callum Wilkie.”

Adelaide faces reigning premier Brisbane this Sunday afternoon at the GABBA.

The match starts at 2.45pm (ACST) and fans can watch live on Channel 7 Adelaide and Fox Footy/Kayo.
