Adelaide utility Dan Curtin says his return to the field in the SANFL at the weekend was a welcome confidence boost.
The 196cm West Australian played his first competitive match of the season against North Adelaide, after successfully recovering from pre-season knee surgery.
Curtin had an impact on the contest, recording 18 disposals and six marks, as he got through the game without a hiccup.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Crows Show immediately after the game, Curtin said it was a positive first step.
“Today was a good confidence builder I think in terms of my body,” Curtin said.
“It was nice to get a bit of confidence, getting back out there and playing again, and it was even more fun to get a win.
“In the first half we brought it to them, we hunted, we got after it, shut down their game and after that we let them bring their game back, but in the last 10 minutes we did well to shut the game down, be composed and get the win.
“I’ll just look to keep building every single week and when the coaches see fit to bring me back in, I’m ready to put my best foot forward for that.”
Curtin also took the chance to reflect on his recovery process and said a solid block of training gave him the confidence to come back in and hit the ground running.
“The first few weeks (of rehab) were definitely challenging and pretty slow, I wasn’t really sure what to expect in terms of coming back and whether it would be delayed or not,” Curtin said.
“But the past few weeks have gone really quick, I’ve been building a lot of confidence at training and it’s been a good couple of weeks.”
