Adelaide is set to blood seven Club debutants in its Round One AFL Women’s clash with reigning premier, the Western Bulldogs, at Norwood Oval on Saturday night.

Basketball convert Jessica Foley, Irish recruit Ailish Considine and netballer Maisie Nankivell are amongst the new Crows selected following strong performances in Adelaide’s trial match victory over Fremantle.

With ruck Rhiannon Metcalfe ruled out of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and tall utility Jasmyn Hewett out with an ankle injury, Foley is named to start in the ruck.

INJURY: Rhi ruled out for 2019

Hewett sustained a ligament tear in her right ankle during Adelaide’s trial match in Darwin and is expected to miss up to four weeks.

After kicking two goals in the trial match, 19-year-old Chloe Scheer will also make her AFLW debut, alongside fellow draftee Hannah Martin, who took out the SANFLW best and fairest award in 2018.

Off-season signings Sophie Li and Renee Forth will make their club debuts after coming to Adelaide from Carlton and Greater Western Sydney respectively.

Fans will be pleased to see Erin Phillips lining up in the midfield after battling injury in 2018, with her co-captain Chelsea Randall at centre half-back.
