Paul Seedsman to miss Round One

Adelaide midfielder Paul Seedsman will miss the opening game of the season after having surgery to repair a fractured finger on Friday.

Seedsman suffered the injury in a tackling drill during Thursday morning's training session at West Lakes.

Crows Science and Medical Services Coordinator Steve Saunders said the injury would be reassessed next week with a view to Seedsman being available for the Round Two clash with Sydney.

"Displacement of the small bone fragment is sufficient to warrant surgical intervention to ensure the long-term function of his finger," Saunders said.

"Fortunately, given the nature of the injury, his conditioning during this very short rehabilitation period will not be compromised in any significant way."

The Crows only have two confirmed non-starters for the season opener against Hawthorn, with Seedsman joining defender Luke Brown on the sidelines.

Brown underwent surgery last week on his plantaris tendon and remains approximately eight weeks away from returning to action.

Jordan Gallucci, Elliott Himmelberg, Andrew McPherson and Shane McAdam will all face fitness tests next week ahead of Round One and Friday evening's SANFL Trial Game.
