Hawthorn have named recruit Jack Scrimshaw on the interchange to face the Crows on Saturday at Adelaide Oval.

Scrimshaw joined the Hawks from Gold Coast in the off-season.

New captain Ben Stratton will lead the team out for the first time, alongside vice-captain Jack Gunston.

Veterans Jarryd Roughead and Shaun Burgoyne will line up on the forward and half back flanks, respectively.

Hawthorn will be without 2018 Brownlow medalist Tom Mitchell who broke his leg in training earlier this year.

Tom Scully (ankle), premiership defender Grant Birchall (calf), Chad Wingard (ankle) and Darren Minchington (hamstring) were all ruled out earlier this week.
