Stevie-Lee Thompson has claimed the Leading Goalkicker award for 2019 at Adelaide’s Club Champion dinner after narrowly holding off a late surge from young gun Danielle Ponter.

Thompson finished the season with 14 goals, beating out Ponter (13) and Erin Phillips (11).

She kicked six goals in each of the Crows’ final games, but Thompson’s major in the side’s Grand Final victory cemented her win.

The connection between the Northern Territory recruits was on display all season, including in Adelaide’s Round Seven win over Melbourne.

A defender turned small forward by coach Matthew Clarke, Thompson starred in Round Two against Carlton, bagging four goals in the Crows’ 13-point win.

She also dominated against GWS in Round Six and booted three majors in a 32-point win to Adelaide.

Throughout the Crows nine-game season, Thompson failed to score a major just twice - in the opening round against Western Bulldogs and the Preliminary Final against Geelong.

She was also awarded top goal-kicking honours for the league with 13 majors across seven rounds.
