Kuwarna forward Taylor Walker says he is an “outside chance” to return for Saturday’s clash against North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval.
The 36-year-old suffered a minor hamstring injury in the Round Eight Showdown, and missed last Sunday’s trip to the MCG.
Speaking to Roo, Ditts and Loz on Triple M Adelaide Breakfast, Walker gave an update on how he was tracking and said he was aiming to participate in Wednesday’s main training session.
“The hamstring is going really well, I had a really good session on Saturday, had a little run around yesterday and am aiming to complete the main session on Wednesday,” Walker said.
“I’m a bit of an outside chance (to play on Saturday), I’ll track along and try to get through the main session on Wednesday, and if I do I’ll have a conversation with Nicksy.
“I’ve certainly got a few hoops I need to jump through, but I’m not ruling it out I’ll put it that way.”
Walker watched on from home as his teammates produced a 37-point win against the Tigers, sparked by a nine goal to two second half.
He gave his thoughts on the match and how Kuwarna was placed nine weeks into the season.
“It wasn’t great viewing, the first half, but you can see what we’re capable of doing, especially in that third quarter when we got our game going and did exactly what we needed to do,” Walker said.
“Understanding we’ve had some interruptions with injury and player availability, so we haven’t been able to get that continuity in our game.
“I look at it as we’ve got a lot of upside, we’re not playing our best footy, but we’re 5-4 and have a great opportunity to play against a quality side in North Melbourne this week.
“The AFL have wanted this for many years, and now they’ve got it, it’s a very even competition - so as well as we went last year, you just need to accept that this year we’re going to need to do it a little bit differently.”
Staying in Adelaide on the weekend allowed Walker to watch his sons, Hugo and Louis, play their first football game together in the Unley Jets Under 7s side.

“The boys had a little run around on the weekend, so we are now in that era of kids sport on a Sunday,” Walker said.
“The boys are in Under 7s, they’ve got the zones, no tackling, all that stuff - and there’s a few rules there where I’m like it’s doing my head in already.
“The boys went okay though, they needed to listen a little bit more to me, but they had a lot of fun.”
Kuwarna takes on North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval this Saturday afternoon, with the match to begin at 12.45pm (ACST).
