A record-breaking quarter, a match-defining scoring run and some standout individual performances headlined Kuwarna's win against North Melbourne. Here are the key numbers and historical notes from Round 10.

Second-quarter blitz ranks among all-time best

Adelaide’s second term score of 10.4 was its highest for any quarter since round 20 of 2015, when it kicked 11.1 in the final term against Essendon at Docklands Stadium. The Club’s record is 14.2, in the second quarter of a 99-point win over Fitzroy at Football Park in Round 17, 1996. The record against North Melbourne is 11.2, in the second quarter of the last minor round of Adelaide’s debut season in 1991.

Relentless run fuels season-best score and margin

The last time Adelaide kicked 13 consecutive goals was to finish the 2013 game against GWS at the Sydney Showgrounds. Saturday’s streak started with the last goal of the opening term to Izak Rankine and ended after Ben Keays snapped Adelaide’s second goal of the third quarter. The 13 goals turned a three-point deficit into a 72-point lead. Adelaide’s half-time score of 14.6 was its best since it kicked 14.8 against West Coast in round 13 of 2023. It was also Adelaide’s highest score of the season so far (20.13) and its biggest winning margin (68 points).

Venue hoodoo holds as Adelaide makes it 10 straight

Adelaide has now beaten North Melbourne in all 10 AFL games they have played at Adelaide Oval. Remarkably, the Crows also won their previous six contests at AAMI Stadium, since North’s last win late in the 2003 season. Adelaide has also taken the points in nine consecutive games since North last beat the Crows at Carrara Stadium in 2020.

Laird breaks disposals streak record with 240-game run

Credit to @sirswampthing for a curious VFL/AFL stats record for Rory Laird, who is now on a streak of 240 games with 15 or more disposals. He moved past Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury, who stopped his run at 239. It was back in round three of 2015 when Laird last dipped below 15 possessions, when he had 11 disposals against Melbourne at Adelaide Oval in his 37th game. Laird collected 25 disposals against the Roos, just below his career average of 26.9. He also picked up a clearance on Saturday to lift his career total to 800. Scott Thompson holds the club clearance record with 1338.

Rankine leads midfield charge in standout team display

Izak Rankine continued to impact in his midfield role, with 28 disposals, game-high 10 clearances, eight score involvements and seven inside 50s. Jake Soligo and Ben Keays both recorded a game-high 11 score involvements and kicked two goals. Josh Rachele leads the way for score involvements this season with 69 after another eight on Saturday. He is Adelaide’s leading goalkicker after 10 games, three against North Melbourne lifting his tally to 17.
