Former Crows midfielder Andrew Jarman has set the record straight about how his brother, Darren, was lured to the Club after five seasons with Hawthorn.
The historic 1995 blockbuster trade which brought Hawks star Darren Jarman to the club was negotiated in extreme secrecy by inaugural Crows CEO Bill Sanders.
The complex three-way trade reshaped the Club, allowed Darren to return home to SA and play alongside his brother Andrew, and eventually helped Adelaide secure back-to-back premierships
Speaking on Triple M Adelaide’s Crows Chat podcast this week, Andrew claimed it was his influence that helped Adelaide secure the trade deal with Hawthorn for Darren.
“I rang DJ (Darren Jarman) and said ‘you’re coming home to finish off your career with your big brother, yep, done’,” Andrew said.
“Bill didn’t need to go and hide in a bathroom or a bloody roof top and go over there once a week.
“As soon as the home-and-away season finished, I was on the phone ‘you coming home?’ ‘Yep, done’.”
Crows Chat co-host Mark ‘Thommo’ Thompson also re-visited a chat with Sanders, where he recalled the particularly unique bathroom incident that happened in the middle of the negotiations.
Also on the podcast this week, defender Nick Murray takes on AFLW Co-Captain Ebony Marinoff in a Crows knowledge quiz, and Marinoff interviews teammate Lily Tarlinton, as we edge closer to the W season starting.
Fans can listen to the full Crows Chat episode on Triple M Adelaide every Sunday from 9-10am or on the LiSTNR App.
