Adelaide defender Brooke Smith will miss the 2026 AFLW season after rupturing the ACL in her left knee during a training session on Saturday.

The 22-year-old sustained the injury during a skills drill, with scans confirming the diagnosis.

Crows Executive General Manager AFLW, Bree Brock, said the Club was deeply disappointed for Smith after a strong off-season and a promising start to pre-season.

“We’re devastated for Brooke. She has put in a significant body of work over the off-season, so for this to happen is incredibly disappointing,” Brock said.

“She will meet with a surgeon in the coming days, with surgery expected to follow shortly.

“Our medical team, along with Brooke’s teammates, staff and family, will provide her with the full support she needs as she begins her rehabilitation.”
