Adelaide veteran forward Taylor Walker has revealed the cheeky sledge he received from his son Louis last week.
Walker and his wife Ellie set a viral parenting challenge to their three children, asking them how they would describe their parents if they went missing.
Louis took the challenge as an opportunity to have a dig at his Dad with a witty sledge.
“A couple of nights ago Ellie saw an interesting activity to do with your kids, asking them if Mum and Dad went missing, how would you describe them to try and find you,” Walker told Roo, Ditts and Loz on Triple M Adelaide Breakfast.
“So Ellie asked the kids the other night how’d they describe Ellie if she went missing and Hugo said ‘I’d say you’ve got beautiful skin Mummy,’ Louis said ‘you’ve got nice long hair Mummy,’ and Hattie said the same as Louis.
“I thought oh do I or don’t I, but I ended up asking what about Dad, Hugo said ‘you’ve got nice grey hair’ and Louis piped up and said ‘you’ve got big fat ears Dad!’
“I said don’t be so cheeky because you’re a clone of me and I’d describe you as the same.”
Walker and his family spent the Crows’ bye period in Noosa, where they enjoyed some sun and had the unique experience of staying in a treehouse.
“We went up to Noosa, Ellie and the kids went on Thursday and I had to kick my plane flight down the road until Sunday,” Walker said.
“But I was able to spend four-or-five days up there which was beautiful. We had a couple of nice days and a couple of rainy days, but that didn't bother the kids. They were thriving on the beach when it was pouring down with rain.
“We stayed at a friend's place called House Lodge which is the backpackers up there, they’ve done an amazing job with a tree-house that’s been done up with some bedrooms, it was fantastic.”
From a football perspective, Walker will be hoping to return to the AFL side to face Geelong this Thursday night, after missing the past three matches with a minor hamstring injury.
He said he expected a tight and physical contest against the Cats, and revealed the blueprint for challenging last year’s grand finalists.
“They’re going really well, they’re a quality side, Chris Scott is an absolute gun coach and I’ve got a lot of respect for them and what they’ve been able to do,” Walker said.
“They’ve added to their game with their handball game and they’ve got some amazing midfielders in Holmes and Smith who we’ll have to pay close attention to.
“And we know how good their back six is as well, plus ahead of the ball they’re pretty good as well, so across the board they’re playing good footy and they’ve got some talented players.
“So we’re looking forward to it, it’s going to be hot in the contest and we’re going to bring a big pressure game - we saw Carlton have success (against Geelong) bringing the heat so we’ll be looking to emulate that on Thursday night.”
The Crows take on Geelong in the third edition of SA Freeze at Adelaide Oval this Thursday night, with the first bounce at 7pm (ACST).
