Adelaide forward Darcy Fogarty will miss the next three weeks after his three-game ban for striking was upheld by the AFL Tribunal.

Fogarty was charged with striking Sydney Swans defender Harry Cunningham in the second quarter of Friday night’s game at the SCG.

The incident was graded careless conduct, severe impact and high contact.

Fogarty and his legal counsel, Nicholas Baum, argued the incident was a genuine attempt at a tackle that unfortunately made high contact.

“There was certainly no malice from Darcy in that moment and what we considered a tackling attempt unfortunately caused injury to Harry,” Adelaide Executive General Manager Football Adam Kelly said.

“We will not be pursuing this further.”
