Adelaide midfielder Sam Berry is backing the Crows to bounce back quickly after their 34-point loss to Collingwood at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night.

The Crows had the upper hand in the first half, suffocating the Magpies with their pressure and relentless attack on the ball.

But Collingwood wrestled back the momentum in the second half and secured the win.

Berry, who finished the match with a career-high 30 disposals and 10 clearances, said the result was frustrating but was confident it would just be a blip in the Crows’ back half of the season.

“We’re pretty flat, it's disappointing,” Berry said.

“We had the game on our terms in the first half and then they just got that momentum, and we just didn't stop them.

“(But) we don't need to lose confidence from one performance or even half a performance that wasn't our best, going into this game, we've been in some good form. 

“It’s a little hiccup, a little bump in the road, and another lesson, and I guess trying to you know find the positive and glass half full is that it happened now and not in the first week of finals. Our focus will be to stay positive and stick together, and move on to Essendon.”

Berry said Adelaide struggled to contain Collingwood's attacking ball movement and its plans to slow the Magpies.

“We’ve got some structural things in place that we go to, and I just don’t think we executed it well enough,” Berry said.

“We tried to get a bit of a stoppage game going, but they're so good at creating chaos and going through the corridor, and we just couldn’t stop it, so it was disappointing."

A memorable moment to come out of the match against Collingwood was Crows legend Taylor Walker becoming the most recent addition to the exclusive 700th goal club.

Walker notched the milestone when he kicked truly from a set shot on the boundary midway through the first quarter.

Berry said it was great to be a part of and celebrate with Walker.

“That (Walker’s 700th goal) was a pretty cool moment,” Berry said.

“To be involved in the big Texan’s career is pretty cool, pretty special, and what a way to do it, from the boundary as well. 

“He's an absolute star, and we all value and love Tex.”

Berry, meanwhile, has solidified his position as one of the Crows’ premier midfielders, with the tough on-baller enjoying a breakout season.

The performance he put together against the Magpies on Thursday night, and his campaign as a whole so far has been built on an inner belief and working with more experienced midfielders to help fast track his development.

“I feel good, I'm growing with confidence and building,” Berry said.

“A lot of boys in the midfield have really helped me out as well, like Daws (Jordan Dawson) has been massive for me, and being under the hand of Stretch as well has really helped.”

The Crows will now look towards their clash against Essendon at Marvel Stadium next Sunday afternoon.

Berry said players would welcome the longer break, as they looked towards refreshing their body and minds ahead of Round 21.

“We've had back-to-back six-day breaks, so there is a bit of fatigue, especially at this point in the season,” Berry said.

“I guess we’ll just have a few days off to mentally reset and rejuvenate, and get ready to go Monday and build for the week.”
