Adelaide forward Riley Thilthorpe says the Crows are embracing the pressure that comes with playing finals footy, rather than shying away from it.

The Crows are preparing for a second consecutive finals campaign, determined to build on last year's experience, when they host the Western Bulldogs in an Elimination Final at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.

Speaking to the media on Monday morning, Thilthorpe said players were “leaning into the pressure” and believed that would hold them in good stead for Saturday night.

“We probably tried to pretend the pressure wasn't there this time last year, we didn't really know what to expect, but knowing what to expect this year, we're going to try and lean into it and really use that to our advantage and just embrace it,” Thilthorpe said.

“I'm definitely more excited than I was last year, I was probably more nervous last year, but knowing what I'm going into now, I'm just keen to get into it.

“(We are) leaning into the pressure, not trying to pretend it's not there, knowing it's there, and embracing it, and hopefully putting it on to some other teams this final series.”

Thilthorpe was part of the Crows’ finals campaign last year - in what was the Club’s first major round appearance in seven years.

The 24-year-old said players had learnt a lot from last year, especially around the importance of managing loads.

“I think we're in a much better spot (than last year), we're a lot fresher than we were this time last year,” Thilthorpe said.

“It's a long year, and last year we were probably a bit flat by the end of it, so I think we're refreshed and ready to go.

“Resting some of those senior boys and probably (having our) training loads be a bit lower than last year has allowed us to be a bit fresher, which I think will help will pay off in finals hopefully.”

The Crows will be boosted this finals series with midfield star Izak Rankine set to feature, after missing last year due to suspension.

Rankine has enjoyed a stellar season, recording 30-plus disposals in six matches, including 36 against Richmond in Round 22, and 39 against Fremantle in Round 23, and 35 in Round 24 against GWS.

Thilthorpe believed Rankine was built for finals footy and was keen for him to get an opportunity.

“He’s (Rankine) he's in some sort of form at the moment, so he’s huge for our team,” Thilthorpe said.

“He gets into good spots, uses the ball really well, so we are super excited to have him play his first finals.

“He's buzzing, he's had more energy than I've ever seen him before, so he's super keen. I can't wait to see him out there, he's gonna be a great finals player, and we'll see how he goes.”

Adelaide faces the Western Bulldogs in an Elimination Final at Adelaide Oval on Saturday at 7.05pm.
