Kuwarna will unveil its fifth AFLW debutant of the season, with Lucy Waye set to play her first match in against Hawthorn at Kennedy Community Centre on Sunday.

Waye was selected by Kuwarna with Pick No.21 in the 2025 AFLW Draft, after an impressive junior career with the Goodwood Saints and West Adelaide.

She featured in the SANFLW last season, averaging 16 disposals, 3.2 marks and 4.9 tackle, which earned her a place in the Team of the Year.

The 19-year-old also played for South Australia in the 2025 National Championships, with her versatility and athletic profile a highlight of her game.

Waye enjoyed a strong first pre-season at West Lakes, before a hand injury in the final practice match against Port Adelaide slightly hindered her progress.

Kuwarna Executive General Manager Women’s Football Bree Brock said Waye had deserved her opportunity.

“Lucy has really impressed us since joining the Club with her commitment to training and willingness to keep getting better,” Brock said.

“She is ready for her opportunity at AFLW level and we can’t wait to see what she can do this Sunday.”

Kuwarna takes on Hawthorn at Kennedy Community Centre this Sunday afternoon, with the match to begin at 12.35pm (ACST).

The game will be broadcast live on 7Mate Adelaide, Fox Footy and Kayo.
