Kuwarna has made one change for its Round Four clash against Hawthorn at Kennedy Community Centre on Sunday afternoon.
As confirmed on Friday afternoon, draftee Lucy Waye will make her AFLW debut against the Hawks.
Kuwarna Executive General Manager Women’s Football Bree Brock said Waye deserved her opportunity after an impressive first pre-season.
“It’s great to reward Lucy with an opportunity to play her first AFLW game this weekend, she has really impressed throughout the pre-season and we can’t wait to see what she can do,” Brock said.
“After suffering a hand injury in our last practice game, she’s worked diligently to get herself right, and after impressive performances in scrimmage matches we’re confident she will come in and contribute for us.”
Forward Christina Leuzzi comes out of the team after suffering an ankle injury in last week’s win against the Eagles.
“Unfortunately for Christina she wasn’t quite able to get that ankle right for this week, and we didn’t want to take the risk,” Brock said.
“We’re confident with another week of recovery she will be available for selection next week.”
Kuwarna will be looking to make it back-to-back wins when it faces the Hawks at Kennedy Community Centre on Sunday afternoon.
The match will be the first played for premiership points at Hawthorn’s new training centre in Dingley.
Brock said the group was excited by the challenge the Hawks would present.
“To go over and be a part of the first AFLW match for premiership points at the Kennedy Community Centre, is a very exciting opportunity for our young group,” Brock said.
“The Hawks are a quality team, so we’ll need to bring our best if we want to come away with the four points and continue our positive momentum from last week’s win.”
Kuwarna takes on Hawthorn this Sunday afternoon at Kennedy Community Centre, with the match to begin at 12.35pm (ACST).
