Adelaide coach Don Pyke is wary of Fremantle's weapons in all areas of the ground, but believes the Crows will get their balance right in matching the leg speed of the high-flying Dockers.

Ross Lyon has the Dockers off to an impressive start with four wins in their opening six games to sit second on the ladder.

They arrive at Adelaide Oval on Sunday after back-to-back victories against Greater Western Sydney in Canberra and the Western Bulldogs in Perth.

One of the strengths of the Dockers has been their outside run, loading up on plenty of pace through the midfield with the likes of Michael Walters, along with Nathan Wilson and Luke Ryan providing dash off half-back.

SELECTION: Adelaide name 26-man squad

In contrast, the Crows pride themselves on winning contested ball through the Crouch brothers – Matt and Brad – Rory Sloane, Hugh Greenwood and Cam Ellis-Yolmen.

Pyke said the Crows won't load up on one aspect at the disadvantage of the other.

"We're always mindful of the balance of our genuine hunters and ball-winners, and guys outside who can cover the ground," Pyke said on Friday.

"That's the balance we always try to strike at match committee, but we're comfortable we've got enough run in that space."

Pyke said the Crows would also consider having a tagger play close attention to Dockers superstar Nat Fyfe or resurgent 300-game veteran David Mundy.

EMERGING: Praise for Alex Keath

Ellis-Yolmen could get that job at stoppages, while Riley Knight has the endurance to complete a run-with role across the ground.

"We'll have a couple of different options," Pyke said.

"Fyfe's clearly an outstanding player in the competition and Mundy's back in fantastic form.

"Having spent time out of the midfield, he's turned the clock back a little bit.

"We'll have a look at what for us is going to create winning, our ability to shut those guys down and, or, generate our own ball.

"We'll try to find that balance."

INJURY UPDATE: The latest on Brown, Milera

Pyke didn't reveal the final make-up of his 22, preferring to wait until the team is announced at 4.30pm ACST on Friday.

Midfielder Bryce Gibbs is a strong chance to return to the side – most likely across half-back - after missing last weekend's win against St Kilda with a bout of gastro.

Key forward Josh Jenkins, who has been omitted for the past two games, last year's No.9 overall draft pick Chayce Jones and defender Darcy Fogarty are the other additions to the squad.
