Connection going forward and forward-half pressure were vital factors in Adelaide’s victory over St Kilda, co-captain Taylor Walker believes.

The Crows recorded 17 inside 50 tackles to St Kilda’s six, driving Adelaide to a 22-point win at Adelaide Oval.

“We spoke the last few weeks about what we needed to fix,” Walker told Triple M’s Roo & Ditts.

“Connection going forward was one and the ability to keep it in our front half was the other.

“We changed a couple of things to try and keep it in the front half.

“It worked, and we’ll try to keep doing that this week.”

COACHES VOTES: Laird earns perfect score for Round 20

Walker booted four goals in the win and was named in the AFL.com.au Team of the Week for Round 20.

Eddie Betts, fresh off a week in the SANFL, kicked three - including a Goal of the Year nominee.

“I suppose for Eddie, he’d be the first to say he wasn’t playing the way he wanted to play,” Walker said of his teammate’s omission after Round 19.

“Pykey and the coaches decided the best way was to put him back in the SANFL for a week.

“On the weekend he was outstanding… that’s the Eddie we know.”

KEATH RETURN: Key defender tipped for West Coast comeback

Round 20 also saw the return of Darcy Fogarty to the AFL line-up following an extended spell in the reserves.

The 19-year-old booted a huge goal in the fourth quarter, drawing the praise of his co-captain.

“It was good to have him back,” Walker said.

“He’s a big boy, has beautiful skills and is not afraid to jump into a pack.

“He will be a great player for us going forward.”
