Former Crows assistant coach James Podsiadly drew inspiration from Adelaide’s shed floor at West Lakes to create his new business - AFL Max.

The football-themed family entertainment venue combines cutting edge technology with traditional football skill tests and is based near the Adelaide Airport.

Podsiadly said the idea for AFL Max came during his tenure as an assistant coach at the Crows.

“I used to see coaches and players kids come into our venue on the shed floor there and kick balls at nets, tackle bags, jump around and have a good time,” Podsiadly told FootyPlus, brought to you by Toyota.

“I just thought, why hasn’t anyone in the AFL thought about doing a playing development centre.”

The 104-game player coached the Club’s defence in 2016 and 2017.

Podsiadly believes that his time coaching at the Club helped set him up to open AFL Max.

“I got a lot of development out of it from a personal perspective and learnt a lot about leadership and teaching and coaching,” he said.

“I’ve implemented some of those tools I learned in those two years into launching a business.”
