Rory Sloane has slipped to third in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.
No Adelaide players polled votes in the Club’s loss to Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Friday night.
Cats captain Joel Selwood received a perfect 10 from coaches Don Pyke and Chris Scott to jump to the top of the overall leaderboard with 56 votes.
West Coast utility Elliot Yeo earned eight votes in his team’s loss to Gold Coast, overtaking Sloane and moving into outright second in the AFLCA award.
Richmond star Dustin Martin, who also scored maximum votes, sits level with Sloane (53) in third place.
Selwood was the leading possession-getter in Geelong’s 22-point win over Adelaide. The courageous onballer collected 25 disposals (21 contested), along with nine clearances and a goal.
Brownlow Medallist Patrick Dangerfield was judged the next-best player on the ground. Dangerfield kicked three goals from 31 touches, as well as gathering seven clearances and applying seven tackles.
Defender Zac Tuohy, who held star Crow Eddie Betts to one goal, was recognised with six votes. Tuohy also amassed 27 possessions, eight marks and five rebound 50ms.
Backmen Andrew Mackie and Tom Stewart, and negating midfielder Scott Selwood were each awarded two votes. Scott Selwood won 25 possessions and laid 10 tackles while nullifying Sloane, while Mackie and Stewart combined for 46 disposals and 12 marks in Geelong’s defensive 50m.
Joel Selwood, Martin, Adam Treloar of Collingwood and in-form Greater Western Sydney midfielder Josh Kelly, who has moved into the top 10, all received maximum votes in Round 11.
