Defender Luke Brown has been included in AFL Media’s Team of the Week for the first time in 2017.

Brown and midfielder Matt Crouch were the only Adelaide players selected in the best 22 for Round 21.

The reliable Brown held Essendon cult hero Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti goalless and to just eight touches while amassing 17 disposals and four marks himself.

He’s been selected in a back pocket alongside West Coast swingman Jeremy McGovern and Essendon No.1 draft pick Andrew McGrath, who also kept his opponent – star Crow Eddie Betts – goalless at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

Crouch, 22, earns his fourth Team of the Week guernsey this season.

The prolific ball winner gathered 35 possessions, including a game-high 20 contested. He also topped the clearance count (seven) and assisted in two goals in his team’s 43-point win.

Crouch has been named in the midfield alongside Sydney-based onballers Dan Hannebery and Stephen Coniglio.

An All Australian contender, Crouch was judged the best player on the ground by the coaches.

Crouch joins Adelaide forward Tom Lynch and ruckman Sam Jacobs in being selected in AFL Media’s Best 22 on four occasions.

Captain Taylor Walker and rebounding backman Rory Laird have received five nods this season, while vice-captain leads the way for the Crows with eight selections.

Twelve clubs were represented in the top team for Round 21. Melbourne, Geelong and the Sydney Swans each had a round-high three players selected.
