Port Adelaide’s Jasper Pittard is unlikely to take his place in Sunday’s Showdown XXXIX due to a left ankle complaint.

Pittard, 24, was injured during a training drill at Alberton Oval on Tuesday and was sent for scans later that afternoon.

The dashing half-back has been on crutches since the incident as a precautionary measure until the final results of the scans are confirmed.

Port Adelaide’s Head of High Performance Darren Burgess admitted Pittard would be a long shot to play on Sunday.

“Jasper had scans on Tuesday and we’re waiting to get them back, but we feel it’s unlikely he’ll play at this stage,” Burgess told the Power's website.

Fellow defender Alipate Carlile has already been ruled out of the clash with the Crows at Adelaide Oval.

Kane Mitchell, Aaron Young and Nathan Krakouer loom as possible replacements for Pittard should be be unavailable for selection.
