Adelaide will adjust its training schedule this week as South Australia enters a blazing four-day heatwave.

With 40-plus temperatures forecast for the remainder of the week, the Club will implement a number of alterations to its program.

The side will train for the final time for 2019 at West Lakes on Thursday, starting an hour earlier than scheduled in an effort to beat a portion of the heat.

“We have put a number of strategies in place to protect the players from the heat this week,” Crows Head of Performance Matt Hass said.

“Each player will also be monitored closely through GPS tracking, as well as hydration and heart rate monitoring.”

Nutrition will also be a key focus area to ensure player welfare.

“We will increase pre- and mid-session cooling strategies to help combat the heat,” Hass said.

“Ice slushies, electrolyte-infused icy poles - items that are key to hydration and cooling.”

The Crows will return from their Christmas break on January 10.
