Former Adelaide coach Malcolm Blight has named Darren Jarman and Andrew McLeod as the two standout players during his tenure at West Lakes.

Speaking on Triple M’s The Rush Hour, the AFL legend described the pair as “magic”.

“When you look at photos on the wall, most of them (the players) are pretty good,” Blight said.

“The obvious two are D Jarman and A McLeod.

“Those two, they had magic... some players have that gift and Darren and Andrew were the two, whenever they went near the ball, something good happened 99 out of 100 (times).

“Good players, smart players and team players more than anything, which was great.”

Blight earned a level of infamy upon arrival at the Club with the bold decision to exit senior players Tony McGuinness, Chris McDermott and Andrew Jarman.

“They were great players, but somewhere down the track your time is up,” Blight said.

“I’ve made decisions on players, people have made decisions on me.

“It is a part of the game and is the worst part of the game, finishing up players’ careers… someday it will happen to us all.

Looking ahead to the 2020 season, Blight said he expected more chances in the Crows side for the young players.

“I’m a bit more bullish on the Crows than most,” Blight said.

“Some of the players gone, their time was probably up and they’ll do ok somewhere else.

“But you could just see the whole group last year, particularly at the back end of the year, there was no spark about the whole place.

“I think a new coach and a new outlook will help that.”

On Friday, Blight received Life Membership to the Club alongside defender Daniel Talia, Robert “Bob” Foord and Crows Supporter Group member Yvonne Livingston.
