Reigning Goal of the Year winner Eddie Betts has secured his first nomination for the 2017 title.

Betts, who has claimed the past two Goal of the Year awards, put forward his first entry of the year with another amazing snap from ‘his pocket’ at Adelaide Oval.

The livewire goalkicker swopped on a loose ball at half-forward midway through the final term. Betts burst past two Bomber opponents as he collected the ball near the boundary in front of the venue’s old scoreboard.

He then curled the ball back beautifully on his right boot from a tight angle to slot his sixth goal of the match.

Fans go into the running to win one of two official AFL Sherrin footballs each week and a major cash prize of $5,000 at the end of the 2017 AFL home and away season.

Voting opens at 12pm (EST) each round the day after the last game, and closes the night before the commencement of the next round at 11.59pm (EST).

At the conclusion of the home and away season, the AFL’s All Australian Selection Committee will select the best three goals from the season as the 2017 finalists.
