Adelaide forward Taylor Walker wants AFL games streamed direct to the United States in the absence of the NBA (suspended) and NFL (out of season).

Speaking on Triple M’s Roo & Ditts for Breakfast, Walker said the opportunity could open a new market of AFL fans.

“I think we should stream it through to the US,” Walker said.

“They don’t have any NFL or NBA at the moment.

“(It’s a chance to) grow the game.”

The AFL announced on Monday night that the season would be shortened to 17 rounds, however details are still scant surrounding timings.

Shorter, more regularly occurring games have been discussed as an option.

“I can understand where the AFL is coming from, trying to cram games in before a case occurs,” Walker said.

“I’m a believer that if we can get games in at the moment before something occurs, then why wouldn’t we?

“Put on a show for people sitting at home wanting to watch something.”

Although Walker was keen to play, he warned that if a player were to contract coronavirus that it would likely spread quickly.

“You see any form of cold or flu spread like wildfire,” he said.

“We are so close to each other everyday… the weights room, the lockers.

“Once one person gets it, four or five others already have it and by that stage you just shut the joint down.”

As it stands, Adelaide will face Sydney in Round One at Adelaide Oval on Saturday at 4.05pm ACDT.

The game will be played behind closed doors but broadcast live on Channel 7 Adelaide and Fox Footy from 4pm ACDT.
