Adelaide ruck-forward Billy Frampton was confident a deal would land him at the Crows at the end of 2019.

The former Port Adelaide big man was out of contract, and both South Australian sides wanted to make the switch happen.

“It seemed like it would be easy to get done by the end of the trade period,” Frampton told The Optus Crows Show.

“I was always reasonably comfortable, and we got there in the end.”

Frampton made his Club debut in the Round One loss to Sydney, following a few kind words from his coach and teammate.

“Nicksy said a few words, which is always nice,” Frampton said.

“He’s someone I’ve known for a long time, been in my football journey from start to here.

“Also Lynchy as well, who’s been a huge person for me and a role model.

“To have him say the words he said is something I’ll take away and remember for years to come for sure.”

It has, however, been a strange start to life as a Crow for Frampton.

“In the new colours, no fans being there made it a little bit weird,” he said.

“But it’s something I tried to soak up as much as possible, and let it resonate.

“It was a pretty big deal for me personally, even though we didn’t get the result we wanted.”
